Division Formats
Classic Division (Tuesday Nights)
The Classic Division is the largest group. Each Division consisting of 6 to 8 teams. At the end of each season, final Win/Loss records for each team are used to determine which team (1st Place) move up to the next higher Division and conversely, which team ( last place) move down to the next lower Division. This type of “ranking” has been well received. It assures a healthy level of competition in each Division and allows a team to seek its own level from season to season. In the Classic Division a team consists of 4, 5, or 6 players. Each week a 9-point format is played. Four matches of 501 start out the play, 2 out of 3 less, doubles (two players from each team). Next are four matches of 301, 2 out of 3 legs , singles (one player per team). These are followed by a match of Cricket, 2 out of 3 legs, doubles, for a 9th and final match point.
Standard (Gold) Division (Thursday Nights)
The Standard Division consists of one or more Divisions Depending on the number of teams signed up for the season. A Team consists of 4, 5, or 6 players and the format played each week is 15 points which equates to 15 single leg Matches. The first 6 points are doubles 501. The next 2 points are doubles Cricket. Then, there are 5 Singles 301 games. The final 2 points are doubles Minnesota Cricket. Again, all 15 points are determined by a single leg Match.
Pub-Fun-Triples Division (Wednesday Night)
The Triples Division plays a 3 person format with an option to add a fourth player. This option was recently added to accommodate teams that have 4 players for substitution purposes. The match format consists of three doubles games, nine singles games and one team game for a total of thirteen points per match. All games are 1 leg with a mixture of 301 and 501 being played.
The team game (a finale for the night’s play) is Minnesota Cricket”. This game is similar to Cricket, but has three additional scoring targets; Triples, Doubles and “Three in a Bed” . A “Three in a Bed” is counted when all three darts land in the same number (bed).
Triples Division is designed to accommodate mixed, social company in the sport of Darts; That’s why it is played on Wednesday nights so one has the opportunity to play in either the Classic Division or the Standard Division as well. All teams play at one location (currently the American Legion in No. St. Paul)
Wednesday Fun Darts Division (Wednesday Night)
Wednesday Fun Darts is a great outlet for those looking for a stress relief from their busy lives. It's an ideal place for players of all ages and experience levels, including those who have never thrown darts before.
Teams are chosen randomly from that week's players. Players without darts can share darts with the other players until they get a set. Those seeking tips on how to play darts will find support and comfort here.
Games played are 501 and Cricket, both popular pub games. The night ends with a rousing game of Ultimate Cricket, a fun game that we created for this league.
Our sponsor pub, the Moose on Monroe, serves excellent food and drink and has an area in their finished basement dedicated to darts, with 6 permanent dart boards available for our use. They provide our players with a free half time round of whatever they have been drinking.
So eat, drink and be merry, and join us for some fun darts on Wednesday nights.
