League Formats
Classic League (Tuesday Nights)
The Classic League is the largest group and, because of its size, is divided into Divisions. Each Division consisting of 8 teams. At the end of each season, final Win/Loss records for each team are used to determine which teams (1st Place & 2nd Place) move up to the next higher Division and conversely, which teams ( last 2 places) move down to the next lower Division. This type of ranking has been well received. It assures a healthy level of competition in each Division and allows a team to seek its own level from season to season. In the Classic League a team consists of 4, 5, or 6 players. Each week a 9-point format is played. Four matches of 501 start out the play, 2 out of 3 less, doubles (two players from each team). Next are four matches of 301, 2 out of 3 legs , singles ( one player per team). These are followed by a match of Cricket, 2 out of 3 legs, doubles, for a 9th and final match point.
Standard (Gold) League (Thursday Nights)
The Standard League consists of one or more Divisions Depending on the number of teams signed up for the season. A Team consists of 6 , 7, or 8 players and, here again, a 9 point format is played each week. A single leg of Cricke is played for the 1st match point; followed by three matchesof 501, 2 out of 3 legs. Match point #5 is another single leg of Cricket. Next there are three matches ( 2 out of 3 legs again) of 301. The final match point # 9, is a single leg of Cricket. All matches in the Standard League are doubles, i.e. two players from each team.
Pub Fun Triples League (Wednesday Night)
The Triples League plays a 3 person format with an option to add a fourth player. This option was recently added to accommodate teams that have 4 players for substitution purposes. The match format consists of three doubles games, nine singles games and one team game for a total of thirteen points per match. All games are 1 leg with a mixture of 301 and 501 being played.
The team game (a finale for the night’s play) is Minnesota Cricket. This game is similar to Cricket, but has three additional scoring targets; Triples, Doubles and Three in a Bed . A Three in a Bed is counted when all three darts land in the same number (bed).
Triples League is designed to accommodate mixed, social company in the sport of Darts; That’s why it is played on Wednesday nights so one has the opportunity to play in either the Classic League or the Standard League as well.
